We’re Sian and Grant, friends of Dave and Lisa, with family ties to the Masvingo area as well. For about six years now we’ve been coming and going: lodge stays, house stays, weekends that somehow stretch. Romelda has never felt all that far from home.
When the chance came to have a place of our own next door, we jumped at it. We’re building on the subdivision right beside Woodlands, so we’ve had a front-row seat while Dave and Lisa’s plans have been taking shape.
While our house has been going up, Woodlands has been our easy base. We’ve popped in for a few nights at a time to keep an eye on our own build, and we always leave feeling looked after. The staff are kind, the hosts are our friends, and somehow it still feels like arriving somewhere welcoming rather than just checking in.
These past few months especially, staying three to five nights in little bursts, we’ve really got into the rhythm of it. A Muchinda who quietly keeps things going, a kitchen you can properly cook in, a lounge you want to sink into, and a dining table that works when friends or family join us for a meal. It’s the small, thoughtful things that make it feel like living, not lodging.
We chose a semi-permanent abode in Glenlivet for many of the same reasons Woodlands exists: slower days, good company, and a rooted sense of place. We believe in what Dave and Lisa are building, and we look forward to meeting guests who visit over the coming years.
If you’re thinking of a longer stay, come. You’ll be well looked after.
